Full Time Caretaker

Scale: Point 6. Salary: £6.47 per hour

32 hours per week

Permanent, subject to the satisfactory completion of a six month probationary period.

Required as soon as possible, owing to the retirement of the present postholder.

Hours of work to be confirmed, but a split shift approximately: Monday - Thursday 6.30 am - 9.30 am 2.30 pm - 6.00 pm (5.30 pm Friday)

The Governors are seeking to appoint a friendly, competent, hardworking, caretaker who enjoys working with staff and children to ensure that Shotley Bridge Infant School is the best school it can possibly be. Some training will be provided if required.

Key responsibilities include:

The security of the premises and its contents (including the operation of the intruder alarm and security system and keyholder responsibility. This may include unsocial hours callout)

  • Cleaning of the school
  • Supervising other cleaning staff
  • Lighting and heating duties
  • Basic Grounds maintenance
  • Minor repairs and gardening
  • Handy person and porterage duties
  • Keeping the Headteacher informed about the needs of the school
  • The ability to work unsupervised using initiative and also to work as part of our school team
  • Other duties as may be commensurate with the post
